I'm always gathering inspiration (hello Pinterest), so our trip to graffiti tunnel was no exception. I love seeing what color combinations the artists use, and the different patterns they add into their work. I love the saturated colors and I'm really feeling the redish magenta color that I saw a lot of down there... especially paired with turquoise and coral. I also love seeing previous works peeking from behind the new stuff and the peeled parts where you can see just how many layers there are.

Inspiration: Weaving II
Here is a follow up from yesterday's post with some more weaving inspiration. I mostly find new artists from Instagram and looking through hashtags like #weaving, so that is why these posts are pretty IG heavy.
I recently came across Courtney and Nicky from Warped Threads on Instagram. I didn't realize there were two different people behind Warped Threads until I was writing this post, but it helps explain the range of colors and designs that are offered in their Etsy shop. I love their feed because there is so much diversity among their pieces. Here are a couple favorites:
Another Instagrammer that I love following along with is ShopHelloChiqui. She shares some great weavings of her own, regrams of other artists, quick video tutorials, and updates from her shop.
That's it for now. I'm sure as I dive deeper into the world of weaving I'll find some more inspiration to share and I'll eventually share some of my own (working full time and trying to get photos in natural light has proved to be a challenge). If I don't make it back here next week, Happy Holidays!

Inspiration : Weaving
It has been a quite a while since I've shared an inspiration post, but my inspiration has been all over the place lately. Maybe it is just all of the blogs I read, but weaving just came out of nowhere and is starting to gain traction. It's a great way to add texture and art to a room at the same time.
I was reintroduced to weaving by Rachel from Smile and Wave. She has been doing some weavings lately that are so fun. I love seeing them together as a collection. She also gives some weaving tutorials over on A Beautiful Mess (see here and here)
Maryann Moodie has some amazing weavings. I creeped on her Instagram way back when and found some of her first weavings from more than two years ago. Seeing her first pieces and seeing how she has developed is really encouraging for a beginner like me. I pretty much screenshot every instagram she posts and save it for inspiration. Here is one of her collections and a couple of my favorite pieces:
I love the color combinations she picks. To learn more about her, check our her Etsy shop, her house tour on Etsy, and a day in the Life of Maryanne Moodie on Design Sponge
Another one of my favorite weavers to follow on Instagram is Melissa Washin. Maryann Moodie shared a shot of Melissa's weavings a couple months ago on Instagram and I have been following along ever since. When I was creeping on her Instagram, I found some of her first weavings and they were only from 11 months ago. Seriously?! She's only done this for 11 months and she is this good?! Here are some of my favorites:
I think the 'siblings' in the last picture are my favorite. I love that they coordinate and I like the threads of green and blue in the fringe. Check out her Etsy shop for more.
As I'm exploring on Instagram, I'm finding more and more artists that I'm loving their work and I'll probably have another post of weavings and artists that I'm inspired by. I still need to photograph the pieces that I just finished, but stay tuned for some pictures of those in the near (probably after Christmas) future. Have you been noticing a weaving trend lately? Or is it just me?

Woodgrain Inspiration
I have always had this love for patterns in nature (see Honecomb inspiration). My senior year of art, my theme was patterns in nature. Looking back, I feel like I just skimmed the surface and it is something that I want to look more into and have that translate into some home decor and art.
After a little research, I learned this is called faux bois (french for false wood). Faux bois is the artistic imitation of wood or wood grains in various media.
Here are a couple home decor pieces:
And some handmade products:
What do you think? Have you ever heard of faux bois before?
Sidenote: My computer is so close to being fixed so I will finally be able to get some more pictures up of projects and some other stuff instead of just inspiration pieces. I can't wait! There is something about using your own computer that feels so comfortable and I miss it.

Nursery Inspiration
I may only have half a room to decorate for the baby, but there are so many cute things that I want to do. Here is some inspiration for the nursery area:
+Globe with name/birthdate like this.
+I love everything from this photo... globe, maps, giraffes.

+I am obsessed with this quilt and is on the top of my list to make.
I have a couple projects planned using some old maps I got from my dad. I also have quite a few sewing projects that I want to make. I will definitely share those whenever I get around to them.

Yellow & Turquoise
I have been obsessing with this color combo since I reorganized some filing drawers at work. I used teal/turquoise and yellow hanging folders and it makes me so happy whenever I go to file one of my purchases... hey, the little things count.
I couldn't find a lot of looks with this color combo, but here are two very different looks that I like:
After jumping over to Pinterest, I just realized I used this color combo with my board covers on my Pinterest homepage. Looks like I've liked it a little longer than I originally thought.

Nautical
I'm so ready for a vacation! To pass the time, I've been daydreaming about my beach trip at end of June. I've also been really feeling the nautical look. Coral (the color and the animal), navy and white stripes, sea creatures, etc...
Uh oh! Do you think this will clash will all of my black and white stripes inspiration?
I originally liked this black (or navy?) and white pillow, but I went to the site and found all of their bright colored pillows. I love them all!
This coral artwork looks like it would be pretty simple to make... and it's beautiful! I mentioned it earlier, but coral is technically an animal. I guess I thought it was a plant before, but I looked it up before I put it in writing and found out it's an animal. I learn something new every day! Find more info and a good video here.
p.s. I'm sorry some of my sources aren't that great. I wish Pinners would pin to the original post instead of the blog. I will be searching for the original posts for some of these.
