Easter Weekend

Easter Weekend this year was more packed then ever. Jazz came to visit for the weekend, so we filled in adventures where we could.  Friday afternoon, we dyed eggs. This is the first time Ida has dyed eggs and she was loving it!  This video (on the last slide) says it all. Cora has fun working on her color mixing theories and seeing what color mixing she could accomplish.

Saturday, we went to a community egg hunt. Both my girls had the same strategy to run ahead of the crowd and get a bunch of eggs without having to compete with other kids... pretty impressive! Both the girls got a good amount of eggs and had fun in the process. We took a quick picture with the easter bunny and headed out before it rained.

Easter was a full day! We woke up early to get ready for church/egg hunt. Ida wore an old coat and bonnet that I wore when I was little. My parents didn't save many outfits from when I was younger, so I love seeing this on my girls. (Cora wore it a couple years ago)

Easter morning, we went to our cousin's church for an egg hunt and service. Ida was corralled into the preschool section and got quite a few eggs. She started opening them up and they were full of money (cue Ida excitedly holding dollar bills and saying "MONEY!!")... then we remembered that they usually have the kids get a couple eggs from this section before they run out to the other sections. It gave us all a laugh and Ida made a good donation to the collection plate. Cora ran off with her cousins pretty much the second we arrived at church and I didn't see her for most of the day because she was having so much fun with them. Easter service was followed by brunch at my aunt and uncles house. It was the perfect holiday day.  Happy Easter!

Easter Weekend

Our weekend was jam-packed with Easter activities and family time. We had lots of fun with each of our activities and ended the weekend exhausted from all the fun.
Saturday morning we started the weekend of sugar with cinnamon rolls and headed to an egg hunt at Cora's school. We were running slightly late, but made it just in time for Cora to run off and get her six allotted eggs and one golden egg in less than 30 seconds. Afterwards, we hung out and she visited the easter bunny, did crafts, got her face painted, and ran around with some school friends.
After the school egg hunt, we headed to Sam's club to pick up some dirt and started setting up our raised beds. Weather-permitting, we'd love to get some of our plants outside soon so we wanted everything to be ready when we can. The girls loved digging around in the dirt and running around outside.

We had a quick bite to eat and walked over to our neighborhood egg hunt. Cora stopped to pick flowers  and hand them out to everyone that crossed our path. It was a little frustrating because we were running late, but the smiles on people's faces when she would offer them flowers was so sweet.

We made it to the hunt just in time (after a little jog) and we had a little disaster of a hunt. Ida was so uninterested in grabbing eggs and even swatted them away when we tried to hand them to her. It was surprising because she loves to 'practice' at home.

Cora went in the next age group and made it about 10 steps before she fell flat on her face. She was limping around trying not to cry as she grabbed what eggs were left. She got about five before she finally gave into her tears and was patched up by a nearby fireman.

We waited in line for some pictures with the Easter bunny and baby Ida was not interested in being anywhere close to the bunny. She's a little skeptical of everyone, so we have lots of grumpy-face pictures of this girl from the weekend... and lots of red-faced pictures of me from all the running around.

After our egg hunt, Ida napped while Cora and I dyed some eggs quickly. Cora seemed more interested in the egg eating instead of egg dyeing. We squeezed in some afternoon naps before we had some evening visits from some of our friends.
Easter Sunday, we hurried off to church and barely made it just in time for the Easter egg hunt. Ida was much more into the hunt than the previous day.  There were some older kids walking around helping out the little kids and it is the cutest!

Cora ran all around the graveyard to get as many eggs as possible. She did pretty well for herself and kept touching base with her cousins then would run off some more. She loved going to the Sunday school portion of church and doing whatever crafts/lessons they do there.

After church, we had brunch at my aunt and uncle's house and hung out for a good portion of the afternoon. Cora loves any time with her cousins, so she was in heaven the entire day. Ida is slowly warming up to everyone, so she spent a lot of time with me or Ben before crawling off and giving some cuddles to my family members. We spent the rest of the evening being lazy at home and getting lots of cuddles from the girls and watching Moana.

Happy Easter friends!

Easter Weekend

Easter weekend was pretty great this year.  We had a lot of activities planned, which is so different than our normally slow weekends.  We got the weekend started off with an exciting trip to Sam's club Friday evening.  We don't do much on weekday evenings, so this was a fun outing for all.  The girls sat in the cart together and enjoyed trying some of the samples.  It was a fun evening and gave me a little glimpse of the adventures we will have in the future since up until now Ida pretty much just rode along in the backpack.

Saturday, I woke up early along with Ida and we putzed around the house doing chores and hanging out. We had plans to dye eggs with my mom around 11:30 so we got ready for that and waited... and waited... and waited.  It was around 11:40 and was wondering where she was so we gave her a call. Right when I was about to ask when she was coming over, she said "So... are you guys coming over?" There was some kind of mixup about where we were going to be doing it, so the girls and I jumped in the car and headed over to dye eggs. It was a lot of fun color mixing and trying out some different things and Cora enjoyed dyeing all of the eggs all the colors (hello purple/gray eggs).  Egg-dyeing was followed by lunch and sitting out on the deck enjoying the weather.

We all headed to my house and walked over to the neighborhood Easter egg hunt.  My parent hung out with Ida and the stroller while I followed Cora around.  She was in the 1-3 age group, so she ran around like a maniac and crushed it.  She got quite a bit of eggs before I even noticed how many she had and reigned her in.  She loved picking up the eggs and opening each one to find the candy, then we headed home.

Cora and our neighbor's grandson spent the next couple of hours hanging out outside and digging in dirt.  I had fun chatting with the neighbor and enjoying the weather.  The rest of the evening was spent hanging around the house, taking baths, and cuddling.  When the girls were asleep, Ben and I got the Easter basket setup (we gave her a thing of Peeps, a Twix candy bar, and 7 eggs full of M&Ms, jelly beans, or coins) and drew a little picture of a bunny for Cora.  We stayed up late chatting and trying all of the random flavors of jelly beans.

Sunday morning, I woke up early (typical) and did some more chores and let the dog out.  Welp, Clovey ran away and I spent about 30 minutes walking around looking for her.  Normally when she runs away she comes back on her own within 15 minutes so I got a little worried when she took too long to come back.  I pushed back my church plans to see if she would come back before and she didn't.  Turns out one of the neighbors down the street grabbed her and posted on the neighborhood site saying that she found a dog.  My aunt saw the post and picked her up for me and brought her to my house while I was at church.

The girls and I went to church and did their annual graveyard Easter egg hunt.  There weren't many kids this year so everyone got A LOT of eggs.  Cora loved hanging out with her cousins and going to Sunday school during the service.  Ida just slept in the backpack the whole time.

After church, we had our family Easter celebration at my aunts house.  It was fun to hang out with our family and hold the babies and just spend some time with each other. Cora was in heaven running around all day with her cousins.

The rest of the day was spent hanging out around our house, cuddles, baths, and rough housing.  We had an end-of-a-sugar-filled-day breakdown, but got a good amount of cuddles and a movie in.  It was such a great weekend and so fun to watch Cora enjoy some new traditions and made me really excited for next year to experience some new traditions with Ida actively participating.
Happy Easter friends!
